Galway’s Claddagh rings are world-famous. JVD Claddagh rings are a unique design, they’re hand-made and each one features the JVD hallmark. The JVD maker’s mark is registered with the assay office in Dublin Castle. It’s the hallmark of genuine, custom quality in precious metal design and production.
The symbolism and mystique of the Claddagh ring, or Fáinne Chladaigh in Irish, date back over 300 years to the fishing village of the same name, the oldest part of Galway city. Its design elements signify love (hearts), loyalty (crown), and friendship (hands) . JVD Claddagh rings come in men’s, women’s, and children’s designs. Choose from 10, 14, 18 and 22 carat gold, or platinum.

Joe Duff has been a goldsmith since 1979. He learned his trade the painstakingly and traditionally manual way at the legendary Thomas O’Connor & Sons. Home to over 100 goldsmiths, it was the scene of the biggest robbery in Irish history and was immortalized in 2 major motion pictures. Joe crafted his Celtic Claddagh ring design in 1999, featuring a unique Celtic knot incorporating the heart and crown, and continued to refine it until he made it commercially available in 2015. Joe’s passion for custom jewelry under his maker’s mark extends to making designs for friends and family in his spare time.
