Sizing Your JVD Claddagh Ring
When you order your JVD Claddagh ring, the first thing you need to decide is whether you want a men’s or ladies’ ring. The men’s rings are bigger, contain more precious metal, and therefore tend to be more expensive than the ladies’ version.
After you’ve done that, we ask you for the type of ring you’d like: 10 carat, 14 carat, 18 carat or 22 carat in the gold, or simply the platinum. Then we we ask you the quantity of rings you’re looking for. It’s usually one of course, but you never know.
The fourth thing we ask you for is the size of the ring you require. This depends of course on what finger you plan to put the Claddagh ring on, and the size of your finger. We ask you for the ring size and the sizing format you’ve used. Just like with many other things we measure, like dimensions, volume, weights and so on, there are different formats depending on where you live or what you;re used to.
You could get your ring finger sized by a professional in a shop, or you can do it yourself. On that note, here’s a very handy chart produced by Zales. With the useful reminder to ‘measure, determine, check’, it shows three ways to establish what ring size you need:
String test, using string or ribbon wrapped around your finger and then rolled out. measured and matched to the size guide
Paper test, using the handy little graphic provided, making sure you print your document at 100%
Secret test, but not that secret really; you get a current ring for the intended finger and see which size on the paper it sits snugly inside of
If you use the Zales guide to establish the size you need for your JVD Claddagh Ring, don’t forget to tell us you’ve used the ‘US’ sizing format when you place you order.
If you do find the ring you ordered does not fit to your satisfaction, you can return it and we’ll provide one re-size at no cost to you. For more details on this see our FAQ page. If in doubt, you can always a ping us a question.
